Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" has added two cast members, and Lt. James Gordon (Gary Oldman) now has a family.
Melinda McGraw, best known by fans of genre television as Melissa Scully, Dana Scully's ill-fated sister, from "The X-Files," has been cast as the wife of Gordon, according to Variety.
Child actor Nathan Gamble ("Babel") will play the Gordons' son. Gamble recently finished shooting a role in "The Mist," based on a Stephen King novel.
Missing from the Gordon family is Barbara Gordon, Gordon's daughter (or adopted niece, depending on the comic book era) who later, of course, becomes Batgirl.
In "The Dark Knight," the sequel to 2005's "Batman Begins," Batman (Christian Bale) and Gordon ally with Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Gotham City's district attorney, and set out to dismantle the criminal organizations in Gotham, but find themselves embroiled in a battle to stop a crime spree by the murderous criminal mastermind Joker (Heath Ledger)."The Dark Knight" is scheduled to be released July 18, 2008.
