Source: Media Release from eNewsMOVIE EXTRA is proud to reveal that actor/comedian Josh Lawson will be hosting the 2007 MOVIE EXTRA FILMINK AWARDS presented by Tsuki and FILMINK Magazine, to be held at the State Theatre in Sydney on Wednesday 9th May.
Fresh from presenting the SHORT & SWEET acting series on MOVIE EXTRA, Josh Lawson is an excellent choice as host for this year's Awards show. Armed with charisma, comedic talent, and a background that covers film, theatre and television (Thank God You're Here), Josh is sure to set the right tone for the event.
As the movie awards show where everyone's opinion counts, the 2007 MOVIE EXTRA FILMINK AWARDS presented by Tsuki and FILMINK Magazine will be a glittering red carpet event with nominations that include both Australian and overseas films and actors.
Just some of the talent up for an award this year include: Emily Barclay in Suburban Mayhem for "Best Blow in"; Shane Jacobson in Kenny for "Best Australian Newcomer";
Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain for "Best Performance By An Aussie in an Overseas Movie"; and Colin Farrell in Miami Vice for the (highly competitive) category of "VH1 Best Movie Moustache".
"I was a perfect choice of host for the event because I wasn't nominated for anything," Josh joked.
He may not have been nominated, but Josh Lawson's presence on MOVIE EXTRA will continue to build after the Awards show, as he will be featuring in a yet-to-be-announced new series to be shown later this year.
Peter Jenetsky, General Manager, Marketing & Strategy Development for MOVIE EXTRA, said,
"Josh is involved in an exciting new project currently going into production for MOVIE EXTRA, which we will reveal in the near future. We enjoyed working with him on the SHORT & SWEET television series and think he is great talent for our EXTRA channel to be associated with.
"As host of the 2007 MOVIE EXTRA FILMINK AWARDS presented by Tsuki and FILMINK Magazine, the film industry and MOVIE EXTRA viewers alike can look forward to Josh Lawson hosting an irreverent yet highly entertaining night of film appreciation, " said Jenetsky.
