HEATH Ledger had planned a music career and a record label for struggling artists.
"He wanted to make art beyond movies." says ARIA-winning rapper and friend Nfa Forster-Jones. "(Heath's) drive to better himself, and those he loved, was quite extraordinary."
"He was happy to lead by example and happy to show his faults. He was a huge lover of music and had always aspired to build up a non-profit record label to help artists prosper."
Ledger and Forster-Jones were instant mates when they met at Lesmurdie Kindergarten, near Perth, 25 years ago. Both went to Guildford Grammar School and stayed close through their respective careers.
Ledger was one of Nfa's biggest fans and supporters. He directed two film clips for the rapper, the first one filmed in late 2004 was for the new song Cause N Effect. Heath's second video and collaboration with Nfa was an ode to male lust set in a speakeasy; at the time the clip was called She's Hot, but later renamed Seduction is Evil.
"I never asked for this," Nfa says of Heath directing his videos. "He offered."
"Anytime he was in the same city, he would be at my show, grinning, with an entourage of good crew, ready to have fun and make me feel at home.
Nfa's Cause N Effect remix EP with multiple versions and his Heath directed video is available as of July 11th, 2010 on iTunes.
She's Hot (aka Seduction is Evil) was released earlier in 2010. The single is also available on iTunes.
