Not sure if this is the right forum for this but I couldn't find anything on it.
I was browsing through Amazon, and ran across this.

Tribute to Heath Ledger: An Unauthorized Biography DVD

has anyone seen it? is it any good? Worth buying? or is it another crappy attention-getter exploitation?

THanks!

I have not seen it. I've been told it's better than the books that got pushed out in 2008; but cannot make a recommendation.

I have seen this. It is all just surface stuff on Heath, what all the media has said about him. They start off by calling him Heathcliffe, lol! Not a totally bad biography, but not that good either. I would not recommend buying it. You learn more truthful things about Heath here. I did skip through it though, I think it shows those awful invasive images of them removing Heath from his home. I hate that we all saw that. Maybe one day his friends/family will write something beautiful about him. smile.gif

Thanks for the input ladies . I really do hope there will be an official biography or tribute video done for him someday. smile.gif

Thank you, Mel. I'm glad to know that, because I had wondered about it myself.

I don't want to see those particular photos ever again . . . it felt like he was treated so . . . undignified. I wish people would just let the rumor and press reports go and remember the true Heath.

Well said. I cannot bring myself to do a simple google search for photo's anymore. Its either the nude pics or those last pics that always come up. I am still angry over that. They did not try one bit to keep that awful moment private. No one should have witnessed that. I have seen celebs go all out to hide themselves, like with that long curtain thingy that goes from the limo to the entrance of whatever building they are entering. Why? Just because they don't feel like being seen that day? When Heath had no say and his family was not close enough to help,he was taken advantage of. Awful. Sorry, I guess I am still bitter. Something to work on I guess.

I haven't seen any tribute videos. BUT I have read one book that I can recommented. It is the Illustrated biography. There are many photos that I hadn't seen before and the way Heath was written was very respectfully.

Mel, I am with you on that. It was just plain wrong. So many things wrong that can never be put right.

Someday perhaps someone close to him will write a decent biography. I worry, though, that so much time will have elapsed between when we lost him and then, that the information will still be all wrong. That things printed right after he passed away will be taken as truth. For instance, that horrid Esquire "Last Days" piece, that caused so much controversy? Who is to say that years down the line, someone might latch on to that, and the fact that it is false will have gone by the wayside through the years? You see what I mean?
I am all for waiting for the right moment for the right biographer to come forth but I worry, and why not, nothing has gone right up til now.
Although if the biography has the blessing of his close family (not the uncles), then hopefully stuff like that can be avoided.

sigh.

Somebody already kind of did that - they produced it as a play and I read an interview with the person who did it and they were talking about why people liked these things because it offers an insight into the subjects, to which my reaction was: you do understand it was fiction, right?

I hope for the same thing Ruth. We're up to, what, four biographies now and only one is even worth looking at.

Thanks for the referral. I saw that one, and wondered if it was any good.

I go to bookstores quite often. There have been a few times when I saw one of the 'biographies' and grabbed it up, hoping to see a glimpse of the real Heath only to be disappointed to find more drivel. Not that I really expected to find anything different....

I wish there was some way that we, the fans, could approach the family with a good writer in tow who sees Heath the way we do and wishes to give an accurate account of his life. I wish somehow that we, the fans, could help bring about a true account of his life, done respectfully, tastefully, and with his family's blessings, and help.

Oh crap I forgot about that person, Miranda. Last I heard about him was some article with him expressing shock over the fact that he'd gotten so much flak from fans about it. How about getting a soul, dude.
I was kinda hoping he'd decided not to do it on the basis of that but I guess the world wasn't that lucky, eh.

Oh yeah, that guy. I gave him a piece of my mind. They used my comment as an example of all the flack from fans. I said something like, "quit sucking on the coat-tails of a wonderful mans life" etc. The guy was actually shocked that we the fans would react like that.

That's what I'm trying to do with HH . . . because there are still people who watched the news a day, two days, up till a week after Heath passed and haven't bothered to learn any updated info since. They still believe the initial rumors, speculations, etc . . .
There has to be one place on the web where you can google Heath and get something more accurate.
People wonder why I take HH and what's posted here so seriously; some get irritated that I won't allow speculative convos or some of the other rumor discussions.
Well, I loved him. Still do. And he deserves a legacy of honor and dignity.
That's why.

THank you Phyllis - for keeping the truth alive in our hearts and for giving us the honor of being a part of it.
Thank you for loving Heath - thank you for fighting for him with us. You are leading the charge against opportunism and slander. I, for one, am with you all the way!! hug_002.gif

Hahaha, I remember that. What did he expect? He chose to base it off of a piece of fiction! I'm wondering how he got the rights to it, actually. Wouldn't the author have had to give him permission to use it?

I'm not sure what happened, but I do seem to recall when it was initially showed it attracted a lot of people and he was hoping to expand it or something.

You are right Phyllis! People should have learnt all the new infos since his death, but they believe all the fictions press writes about him all the time... I'm angry with the press and the way they disrespected him, and with people who express opinions while they are ignorant about the situation and Heath in general... tirade.gif
And HH is a lovely place for some HeathLove wub.gif

I have seen this DVD many times over-my opinion, it was okay but necessary to my research.
After reading some of the things in this particular topic, I can see there are still so many people who love him and think of him daily. So please let me tell you that I have written a novel that stars Heath's memory. I was completely and utterly convicted to write this story for all of us who miss him terribly. The story came to me in the strangest way but I know it was for a reason. I wasn't a huge, huge fan before but after absorbing every detail I could find about him, to ensure his character in my story would be very true to form, I was completely dazzled by his energy and compassion.
If you ever wondered what it would be like to fall in love with him, please read it. It is completely a product of my imagination but makes you wonder, "what if?"

Here is the link if anyone is interested:

http://www.amazon.com/Six-Feet-Ledge-Sandr...9968&sr=8-1

I strongly believe that even if you were not a fan before, you will be after reading this. He was the most compassionate and generous of souls to ever grace this earth. I want others to know the wonderful man I discovered while researching for this story.

Thank you for your support!

No offence, but I would not base any research on this DVD. Or on any of the biographies that have been written.
Six Feet
My main reason for watching this DVD so many times was to get a better understanding of how he moved and he spoke-attained solely through the interviews on this DVD. My book is very intimate and I wanted to guarantee it was authentic to his actions and verbatim. And when researching for this project, I did become aware of the endless misinformation out there about him. It was amazing how much of it there is!
But I believe I paint a true picture after many months of research. If you are fan, I think I you will like my novel simply because you guys are the reason I wrote it-to imagine looking into his eyes and feeling his touch. Like I said before, how the vision came about for it was strange...like I was meant to write this story for some reason because in a million years I never would have dreamed it! smile.gif

Take care all!

Oh yes, that would be great, if his friends/family will write something beautiful about him. wub.gif
Years ago I have read a comment from Shekar Kapur (?, I am pretty sure it was Shekar Kapur) that he has thought about an exhibition with Heath's photographs in New York. But I have never heard about such plans again.

PS: This is my first post here on Heathheathens.

Welcome!!! I remember hearing about the photographs too. I read somewhere that Heath had taken literally hundreds so it would be a while before the family sorted through and did anything with them. I am hoping they will release something next year, on the 5th anniversary?
