Even though Heath Ledger's film with Terry Gilliam, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, does not open in wide release until January 8th, 2010, it has still managed to attract an estimated 13 thousand plus viewers it's first 3 days in limited release, bringing in $130,000.

The film opened on Christmas day in NY and Los Angeles, and while 13,000 people with a box office of $130k may not compare to the large numbers who saw Avatar or Sherlock Holmes, Parnassus is only playing on FOUR screens in the entire U.S. In contrast, the major blockbusters show on an average of 3,500 screens.

Below are the preliminary box office results from Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Approximate viewer numbers estimated by dividing the $130,000 Box Office take by $10 a ticket.
