I've tried to write some poetry and may post some up some day but for the moment this poem sums up entirely how I feel about losing our beloved Heath. RIP Heathy xx

Funeral Blues

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead.
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

W.H. Auden

I've tears in my eyes reading that.

That is such a wonderful poem - and one that really describes the core of grief, at least at the stage when it feels like an insult to your broken heart that the world seems to go on like nothing's happened. How is it possible that it doesn't leave a bigger mark when your world changes forever?

Thanks so much for sharing!

I've felt the shock and horror when I saw the awards shows going on, people going to work every day, And I just couldn't believe everyone could just go on like normal.

I still feel it sometime. And then as time passed, I felt sadness and pain that I was going on like normal, too.

But even so, things will never be the same to me. Amidst it all . . . going back to school, making plans for my life, etc...I still miss him; I still mourn and even cry.

That is gut wrenching and beautiful. Thank-you.

Thanks for sharing that Naomi. Right after his passing, there was a tribute video on YouTube with a voice over of someone reading that poem against a slideshow of pictures. I watched most of it, but frankly, it was just too much for me at the time. I have saved a lot of the tribute videos on my other hard drive. I will look for it and post if I can find it.
It really is such a moving poem that offers a real glimpse into the grieving soul.
