Full Version: Heath Ledger tribute 10 part story.

Is this the one that Orion was putting out?
Patton
Phyllis, the label on the videos is ONiweO

I could not watch all of it...I did download it all, so if it magically disappears from YouTube, I have it.

Mostly I started watching each part while it was downloading so I saw and heard some of the interviews. There ARE images that we do not put on HH. And there is some speculation brought up...but for the most part they EVENTUALLY get around to clarifying that certain things are just speculation. This is definately better thought out than your ordinary RAG story.

I still think that it is too soon for me...I had to take off the headphones for a good portion of it...too painful. And after each part downloaded I stopped watching...

I do wonder what his family thinks of this one? Or if they would even bother watching? Probably not.

I know it is too soon for you Phyllis. But there are things (images) that I had not seen before.

I didn't see one single image of Matilda...and of course I did not see all of it...but I assume they didn't show any, because they did talk about her being born...and did not show any at that point.

I guess I can appreciate that.

There is definately interest in Heath's life...and though WE are especially cautious around here (HH) I guess this program didn't go to extremes on the rumors.

That label on the video is actually the screen name of the person who uploaded it to You Tube....not the owner of the documentary itself. wink.gif

OK...did anyone watch the full thing?

I just couldn't do it.

I watched a good chunk of it....it is very well thought out and focused more on his life and his career than his death....which is how it should be.

The first 5 were the documentary. The others had nothing to do with anything.

I thought it was interesting, there was a lot of good footage of Heath, and they did focus on his life, not his death.

When "rumors" were mentioned, they always followed up by saying it was pure speculation with no evidence or proof.

I'll probably watch it again, because it was rather long and my attention was diverted a couple of times. It was good enough to post on my Myspace blog, but like I said, only the first 5 videos.

I watched parts 1-6-the story about Heath. There seem to be extra snippets on 7-10-tributes, highlighting "the ladies", etc. I wasn't interested in that.

This was made by WWE- World Wide Entertainment, or at least that's what the credits said. Overall, I really appreciated how they disputed the rumors regarding Heath's behavior towards paps. On the down side, they gave air time to the d#*k that as involved in the Oz incident. I will say, as much as I hated them giving him air time, he appeared to be a blatent liar-eye movements, body language. A big plus of this is there is so much interview material of Heath. It was a joy to listen to his voice for an hour. I also noticed that he was wearing the Matilda's restaurant t-shirt at a press event for Bros. Grimm. Cute.

A note of caution. There are definately pics that we would never allow posted on this site of his last day and the memorial service. These are still very disturbing for some of us. However, no pics of Matilda-at all. I also did not like the way they discussed his lifestyle before his passing because the authors of the piece simply don't know.

Despite the pros and cons, just hearing his voice and seeing him smile is a gift. I may live to be 100 and I will never be able to get enough of his smile and voice.
Phyllis
Ok, well . . . the first thing I thought was it's best before anyone posts, to always run this kind of documentary by admin or a moderator first.

2nd... There are certain things that I definitely never want here:
  1. Photos of the memorial service. It is private. It belongs to his friends and family and is not for our voyeurship.
  2. Photos of Heath being taken from his apartment to the coroner's van. No. NEVER under any circumstances.
  3. Peter Carrette. (The paparazzi that tortured him and sprayed him with water guns.) HH did not show those photos when it happened. Heath was terribly hurt. And under no circumstance will HH not give any credence to that lying bastard (whose story was found by the police to have no evidence).
  4. Any of the rumors or speculation about illegal narcotics, which have proven to not be true in any way at the time of his passing.

It's going to be hard to watch and edit, but I may be able to edit it and leave in the wonderful parts. I know how much we all crave anything new and wonderful.

I'm glad to hear that the documentaries are beginning to throw out the speculation that was so rampant at the time, focus on the facts more, and give Heath the respect he deserves ... and earned.

Thanks for finding it, Tony.

Also thanks for the lowdown, everyone who viewed it. I can't bring myself to watch anything of this sort, even so, for fear of the contents. Hearing even some randomly mentioned garbage can make me depressed for days on end. But some warped part of me still wants to know what's in it, because I guess I want to know what other people are exposed to.

None of us have any control over anyone else's opinion, as it should be, and I know I shouldn't let that bother me. I know how I feel and what I believe about him. But having said that--I still don't like to see lies and speculation spread. About anyone. Least of all him.

Just to clarify---Is this the show that Ovation is supposed to air?
TonyParnassus
nope don't think so
Patton
I too, appreciate the post...

I just don't know what to do with it though.

No, I understand exactly what you mean. Reading that there's a new one tightens my chest and stomach muscles, shoulders, total anxiety body lockup, and I'm terrified of any content that will further spread unfair rumors.

But when there's new content, you also desperately want to keep it.

It's hard knowing there are always going to be people who have unfair opinions of him based on inaccurate crap. But I do think that we can affect people's opinions if we try to weed out the crap and make sure that what they hear is how talented and wonderful he was.
It's his legacy now. It should be representative of the pure soul he had. That's what the next generation and future generations should know when they think of him.

Did anyone watch The Dark Knight segment? #9? Did it bring up the ridiculous speculation about the darkness of the character getting to him? or did it clearly show how much fun he had and how free the role allowed him to feel?

I watched The Dark Knight video portion, and it was all praise and accolades from fans and co-stars for Heath. They did call it his last film, so they didn't do their homework, but it is ALL positive as it should have been.
Patton
They also called him Heathcliff...at least twice. rolleyes.gif

Well...aside from a few extra picky things like that. It wasn't so awful. (at least the parts I saw)

Yeah, after hearing "Heathcliff" right in the beginning of the video, I had little hope for the rest of it. I mean, good god, don't people know his name by now? There are still a zillion die-hard fans that refer to him as Heathcliff on their web sites, but the one time i corrected somebody, they got really angry at me, and that was the end of the friendship. Now I don't bother saying anything, but it bugs the hell out of me!. it's not his freakin' name, and it's all over their damn site!

OK, I'm calm now. LOL

Well, I have just finshed seeing all 10 episodes and like others have said, it was not that bad. Altough, for those of you who does not want to see certain images, do NOT watch between 1.30 - 7.25 of part 5/10. These images also appears in episode 10/10.

I really liked to see his beautiful smile and hear his remarkable voice again. No one will ever come close to him when it comes to smile and voice blush.gif

LOL Yeah, after he passed, I put the "In Loving Tribute to Heath Andrew Ledger" on the site main portal, and someone emailed me to correct me. I told them that they were wrong and that the articles and IMDb who refer to him that way are also wrong. The girl was polite about it: "well . . . I suppose it's no big deal since you've already got it up like that." . . . but it was clear she didn't really believe me, even though I told her my source, who was indisputable.

Thanks Lace, for letting us know where those images are to avoid.

I was able to watch one interview with him for the first time recently. And it made me smile and laugh at his humor. smile.gif
I consider being able to watch one . . . progress. I must confess to loving hearing his voice again, too. But I can't watch it again, yet.

This is gonna sound weird but...when Heath walked the earth, I still got nervous watching interviews with him. Butterflies even. I think it's because I became a hardcore fan of his around Brokeback time and I was still kind of becoming 'aquainted' with him then; but there were times when he'd be on TV saying something completely innocent, be all happy, and the very next day there would be something in the press denigrating him about it. Never could figure out why that would be the case. I reckoned he'd rubbed somebody the wrong way at some time.

But then it started to dawn on me that he was just incredibly honest, and he didn't care to kiss anyone's behind to get what he wanted. Those who somehow needed to have their behinds kissed didn't care for him, and those who were just honest journalists appreciated him. At least that's the way it seemed to me.

OK and I just got totally OT.

I never could understand how people misunderstood his intentions or what he was saying. He was completely pure and honest ... Yes, he was wise and a man of the world, but he was also innocent in his heart. The only way I can grasp it is that there are some who are so judgmental, bitter, and closed that they can't understand his kind of innocence.

I haven't seen it yet - just went o check that it was still available on YouTube. One more heads up is called for: Already at 1:12 (through 1:22) in part 1, there's footage from the memorial service...

And the voice-over calling him Heathcliff: The fact that the guy doing the voice-over sounds Aussie to me makes it even more ridiculous! happy0188.gif Are there really Aussies out there (or should I say Down there) who doesn't know his proper name??!! blink.gif biggrin.gif If so: where have they been these past 10 years? Living in a kangaroo's pouch!?... tongue.gif

I took the interview and the scenes from the "Tibute-DVD" that is here on this thread discussed to be the video that will be shown from the "Ovation-TV". The links to the complete "Tribute" on youtube is here posted on the thread from TonyParnassus. Therefore I've posted the link for my vid here on this thread too. I hope it will stay a while on youtube...
I have this DVD since a while but don't watched the whole thing on a stretch, because I cannot agree with a part of the comments and there is a part of footage, I don't want to see - so I stopped watching and now I was only searching for snippets without comment and footage I like, cut it and put it together.
There are still more interview snippets with Heath on it, may be I select it and will do another vid. I'll see.

Yes, you are right, the most of the DVD is surely ok and respectful, but sometimes I'm still so thin-skinned with all things about Heath, it only needs one wrong word or scene, then I think I can't bear it....probably that makes me unjustly sometimes...

There was a discussion about this just a couple of days ago in another thread. biggrin.gif Heath's full name was Heath - not Heathcliff. The misconception comes from the fact that he was named after the character "Heathcliff" in the novel "Wuthering Heights" (as his sister Kate was named after the character Catherine). But his parents named him Heath - instead of the full Heathcliff... I'm sure that the using of Heathcliff instead of Heath after his passing is for many a sign of respect. It's just that... it wasn't his name... wink.gif

Currently, there are 4 brief videos on YouTube, that are clips from an August documentary on Heath, produced by Ovation TV.

I could be wrong, but I think all of the clips in those videos are also shown in that 10-part tribute series.

I think somebody got their hands on it prematurely and post it. I could be wrong, and it could be a coincidence, but you can judge for yourself.

You can either go to Ovation's web page, or do a search on YouTube. On their page, the description says Heath was found in a hotel room. How the heck could they get that SO wrong!

I would be happy to put the links here, but I don't know if that is acceptable here. If it is, please let me know.

Anyway, Ovation TV, which is not part of many cable companies here in the U.S., will be showing this documentary starting on August 2. Actually, I think the channel is only in the U.S.

Just an FYI.
