Ledger The New Joker
20 July 2006
CanMag

Over the past few months multiple names have popped up for both The Joker and Two Face in the upcoming sequel to Batman Begins. Though I do remember Heath Ledger's name being mentioned, it was never enough to consider him a contender. Well, in the words of Entourage's Ari Gold, it looks like we have 'mother f*ckin Brokeback Batman.'

According to LatinoReview, Heath Ledger has signed the necessary documents to guarantee him the role of The Joker in the next Batman movie. If Jake Gyllenhaal ends up as Two Face so help me... wait... he would make a pretty damn good fit. I think we could have a Brokeback adventure coming our way!

We were first to tell the world that Brandon Routh was going to be the new Superman. Now here we are at it again as we just got word from A VERY TRUSTED SOURCE that the offer last night was officially made to Heath Ledger to star as The Joker in the Batman Begins Sequel! As Ari Gold on HBO'S Entourage would say: Heath Motherfuckin' Brokeback The Joker Ledger!

Is the report true? Well, LatinoReview does seem pretty confident; and they support their case by pointing out it was them that were correct on Brandon Routh.

Now all we must do is wait for the official announcement.

For Batman Begins info, media, etc, go to the Batman Begins Movie Page.

Stay tuned for updates.

I've got to hand it to them if this turns out to be correct, but Latino Review are reporting that the Joker has been cast for the Wanrer Brothers housed BATMAN BEGINS sequel, and it is none other than.... Heath Ledger!

If an official announcement is coming, then you can guarantee it will be at Comic Con, which starts today.

"unsuited to the wierdness of Joker?!?!?!" blink.gif

Did this guy not see Brothers Grimm?

Heath is soooo suited for this part!!!
Anyone who knows what he's capable of already knows that!

. . . This might just make the Joker's part in the next film all the more enigmatic and promising especially having witnessed how Nolan successfully breathed to life and reinvented Scarecrow and Ra's Al Ghul in the first movie.

NEW INFO!!

Heath Ledger? It's TRUE

I just got back from Comic Con and I’m sitting in a Mexican food joint updating my coverage of the event. So, I check my email and find that I have 1,000 plus emails about Heath Ledger as The Joker.

Really.

Everyone wants to know what I think about it -- why, I really don’t know. But I’ll tell y’all anyway.

I’m down with it.

Why, because I trust Nolan and have no reason to doubt him.

So there y’all have it, my initial reaction. Sure I had my favorite (Lachy Hulme) like everyone else did. And yeah, there’s some “WTF” initially for me. However, methinks that getting the “WTF” thing out of everyone is genius.

Leaking it (and it WAS leaked) right as Comic Con was commencing was f'n brilliant.

And I'll say this, even though I had a "favorite" (WTF do I know about casting?), I've long said that this Joker has to be totally different than anything we've seen in the past, live-action that is.

So, let’s get on board with this and reserve final judgment two years from now…

I usually don't go out on a limb unless I have had something confirmed, and it has been. Heath Ledger will be The Joker. From my BEST source:

"Nolan has been in secret talks with Ledger for some time....The fan favorites like Paul Bettany, Crispin Glover and your fave pick, Lachy Hulme, were just grist for the mill. Ledger will be playing The Joker. The offer was made last night (July 20), and it will be a done deal.

There you have it. Heath Ledger is The Joker.
