I hope you are enjoying HH and am glad you are a member.
Just wanted to quickly add a note about the expression "Heathus Christ", which is currently all the rage on the web and apparently was started by The Daily Show.
I know that there are several sites dedicated to Heathus Christ. I understand that it is an homage to him done by fans who love him. A couple of the sites can at times be amusing and it's done satirically.
I do understand the strong love for Heath and that it can be as strong as your love for God. Heath was a living breathing entity that we could see and hear, and God and Christ are more intangible, so much in the distance we do not hear their voices and cannot see their faces. Admiration and respect for a real, solid, tangible person can feel so much stronger.
But equating Heath with Jesus Christ has the potential to backfire.
Because of that I have chosen not to link to those sites or mention them here, and to not use the term on HH. Here are the reasons:
- It could be considered offensive. Many people will feel that it is blasphemous to equate Heath with Jesus, and indeed, it is.
- If the media or others start thinking that Heath fans think he's better than Jesus, it will actually hurt him. It will cause him to be derided, disdained, and ridiculed. Therefore, I feel the phrase is dangerous to Heath's legacy.
- Even though it's done satirically and with genuine affection, I don't want to bring attention to anything else that could (and most likely will) be used by non-fans, media, and people who had it out for him, to further ridicule and humiliate him.
I hope I explained that well enough to make sense. LOL
I do find some of the sites amusing and one is really well-done, but please do not use the phrase here. Thanks so much for understanding.
Sincerely,
Phyllis
