My name is James Ketchum. Heath Ledger touched me in a very significant way and I cried myself to sleep the night I heard of his passing. I wrote two poem as a tribute to this great man and to show that he made a mark in this world.
This first poem I wrote the day I heard of his passing and is a tribute to the movies he was in and the man he was
Heath Ledger
He was an actor, that's what he wanted to be
Not a heartthrob, not just eye candy
He was a knight, a skateboarded, a patriot
Name the hardest role you can, he could do it
He showed how deep he could be
By becoming an Oscar nominee
In Brokeback Mountain he pushed the envelope
When he played a gay man trying to cope
He had so many roles, portrayed so many characters
Like in The Order when he solved mysterious murders
Soon Batman will know him as a villain
He burst on the screen as the legendary Bob Dylan
He is the James Dean of my time
What I can do for him now is give him this rhyme
To show that this man earned my respect
You'll be hearing about him for years I expect
He'll be remembered; a knight, a soldier, a villain, a folk singer
His face on the screen will forever linger
Here is a second poem. I wrote this on the incredible performance he gave in The Dark Knight. I'm sure that role will be remembered as one of the great performances in Hollywood history. Seeing him in that film just blew me away.
Heath? Joker?
A clown can be a frightening thing
With a smile on its face and a voice that's menacing
A clown can send shivers up and down your spine
A scarier image you're not likely to find
His face is white his hair is green
Brought to life what's not yet been seen
"Why so serious" I can hear him call
But in horror often comes astonishment and awe
A performance that would shake the world
A talent that would come un-foretold
He'd already made his mark, but nothing like this had he done
After death he stands above everyone
None can do what he went out doing
A painted face with a song without singing
An art, a craft, a talent of giants
A simple man turned to a creature of defiance
In death he will go down in history as a villain who mastered all odds
And with this one role cheated the gods
And made one more move to show the world what he could do
Went out with a bang like is capable of so few
Batman will someday be forgotten, but Joker never will
Heath and the Joker they'll be with us forever still
And never will people wonder, "What is this man's name"
He was Heath Ledger and Heath Ledger he'll remain
