Actor Cate Blanchett really does have a taste for the peculiar. One of Australia's most stylish export-quality thespians, Blanchett is in Montreal filming I'm Not There, which in Hollywood jargon is a biopic about the life and times of Bob Dylan.

Blanchett is one of the stars playing Dylan in the film featuring an ensemble cast of big names including Heath Ledger, Richard Gere, Michelle Williams, Julianne Moore and Christian Bale.

Pictures from the set that surfaced on the web this week show the Oscar winner and part-time Hunters Hill mother, Blanchett, doing the Dylan role justice - at least visually.

Wearing a leather jacket and big bouffant, Blanchett's rendition is of Dylan circa 1966, just a few years before Blanchett, who turned 37 in May, was born. The photos sparked a media bidding war, with prices topping $5000.

Even without hair and make-up, the physical similarities between Blanchett and Dylan are undeniable, even with a 65-year-old Dylan. This became even more evident when PS's design gurus digitally blended photos of the stars, as seen here.
