Success would appear to have come relatively easy to Heath Ledger. However, only now does he feel he has truly arrived as an actor.

The 26 year-old Australian effortlessly rose from a short term part on Home And Away in the mid-'90s to a starring role as Mel Gibson's son in The Patriot a few years later.

He followed that with the swashbuckler A Knight's Tale and Monster's Ball to leave Hollywood hungry for more.

But it has taken his role as a homosexual ranch hand Ennis Del Mar in Brokeback Mountain - and his union with co-star Michelle Williams, and their baby daughter Matilda - for the Perth-born actor to face the future with the confidence you'd expect . . .
