Kind Words from the Ward Family

GEMMA Ward and her family spent time with Heath Ledger over Christmas when he was home in Perth, the international model's mother, Claire, said last night. She said the Ward family was devastated by the news of Ledger's death.

"He was such a lovely young man," she said.

"He was a delightful man, and I think it's just a tragic accident that has occurred."

Mrs Ward said her daughter was currently in New York. "I anticipate (Gemma) will be coming home for the premiere of her movie The Black Balloon but she will probably attend an event in Los Angeles at the end of the week with (Ledger's) father."

A memorial Service for Heath Ledger is being held in Los Angeles this weekend.
