Does Heath Really Wear Mostly Shem Creations?

Have you ever heard it said that Heath has most of his clothes designed by the designer Shem, who is a friend of his? LOL actually this is funny, because I keep seeing this little blurb show up all over the web.

BUT is it true?

Heath does have a friend/acquaintance named Shem who is a fashion designer. He does own a couple of Shem's shirts: specifically the one with the Queen Mum on it that says "Let God Save Her" . . .


. . . and the t-shirt with the Shell Gas logo that's been
transformed into a skull with the text HELL instead of Shell.



But that's where the facts (as we know them) end. Truth is: we don't really know if Heath has anything else designed by Shem (although he might), because nothing has been mentioned in any interviews or articles.

So where did the story come from, you ask? Well . . . . . . it began a long time ago, on a website just a link away . . .

Most of us here who know each other originally met on HB in 2004. On their forum, we had a discussion thread about IMDb, and how you can't always trust what is in the trivia or biography sections of your favorite star. At that time, before IMDb changed their format, you had to submit tips to the IMDb staff and they reviewed it before putting it on the actor's page. But they didn't always know whether it was accurate or not, so sometimes the information was completely false.

Anyway, during our IMDb discussion, one person casually said: "We should go make up something and submit it and see if they put it up."

Another person said: "Let's try something like, 'Heath has a tattoo of a kangaroo on his lower back', and see if they post it."

But the eventual conclusion was that 'It has to be something fairly realistic.' or they won't post it.

Later on, one of the members came back and said she had submitted this bit to Heath's trivia section:

"Most of his wardrobe is designed by friend Shem."

About 24 hours later, IMDb posted it!

We all chuckled and shook our heads, having proven our point about how these sites will post pretty much anything without checking, and how it's best to read with a critical mind. (Thankfully it was harmless and no damage was done to Heath, or Shem for that matter, whose clothing line it probably actually helped.)

Fast forward 3 or 4 years . . . Now, I'll ocassionally come across on some Heath biography or in some blog comments, a reference to Shem designing most of Heath's wardrobe . . . basically it's been picked up off of IMDb and done the rounds of the worldwide web.

Everytime I see it mentioned, I think . . . "That's not necessarily true! Some fans on HB made it up as a way to test IMDb's fact-checking!" Besides, who really has most of their entire wardrobe done by one person???

LOL anyway, all we really know is that Heath knows the guy, went to one of his fashion shows years ago when he was with Naomi, and that he wears a couple of his t-shirts.

So I really have to list this as most likely FICTION.
